Hiring Employees For The Home

Most family caregivers reach a point where they realize they need help at home. Among other signs that it has reached that point it is to understand that your loved one requires constant supervision or help with activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing. Also, caregivers can realize that certain tasks and routine household chores are only achieved with great difficulty or are left undone. It may become apparent that it takes more than one caregiver to maintain any responsibility outside the home.

How To Assess Needs Help At Home

There are numerous options available to seek help at home. Often, it is best from an assessment of their own needs as a caregiver and the needs of the care recipient. There are several checklists to help assess the type of help you need. Overall, rate the following aspects:

Personal Care:
bathing, eating, dressing, grooming
Household chores:
cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping
Health Care:
administer medications, doctor visits, physical therapy
Emotional care:

Providing Companionship, Meaningful Activities, Conversation

It is also important to consider the values and preferences of the person being cared for . Perhaps the person feel more comfortable with a home care worker who shares their cultural background and language. It is also possible that the person prefer the caregiver whether man or woman, particularly if such employee will provide assistance in personal care activities.

Such evaluation will also enable to assess other (possibly less expensive) alternative approaches to care, such as day care centers, services of friendly visits, delivery of food delivery, pharmaceutical services delivery services home delivery of prepared food.

Write The Job Description

Once you have defined the types of help that you need, it will be relatively easy to write the job description. In addition to including the tasks defined in your assessment, be sure to include the following points whenever they are relevant:

  • Training health care (what level and what type-CNA, LVN, RN)
  • Management (car or just the driver's license required)
  • Ability to lift care person or handle special teams
  • Experience with people suffering from memory impairment or other disabilities
  • Languages
  • Any other special ability that is necessary
